"Hello to 100th Anniversary, Sky Observation Event" in our department

"Hello to the 100th Anniversary, Sky Observation Event" of the AstroGAZI community led by Prof. Dr. Uygar KANLI, academic leader of our Department, was held on Saturday, 28 October between 19.00-23.59 at Gazi University Central Campus Dolunay Park with the participation of nearly 170 sky enthusiasts from 7 to 70 different disciplines and professional groups (teachers, academicians, students, private sector employees, retired people).


On this meaningful night, Jupiter, Saturn and Partial Lunar Eclipse observations were made with three different mirror telescopes, as well as presentations on Astronomy studies in the Republican Era, Astrobilgi contest and augmented reality applications.

The importance of the principle of "The Future is in the Skies" was discussed with the participants in the historical process, and the first seconds of the 100th year were entered with marches. 

*The activities carried out in this observation night were also carried out within the scope of the project numbered 1919B012306960, which was accepted in the 2023/1st Call period within the scope of Tübitak 2209 A University Students Research Projects Support Programme, which was carried out by Prof. Dr. Uygar Kanlı as the consultant, Mehmet Çelik, a senior student of our department, and Mustafa Çiftçiler as a researcher.
